A Proper Mermaid

Ok, so today is the last day for the Some Odd Girl MerMay release, but that doesn't mean the fun is over.  I'll still be posting more and more and more mermaids throughout the month.  Today though, I have a proper mermaid to share with you, No really, that's what she's named.

I had to color her with some classic mermaid colors because she was just so...proper.  I placed her in a little shallow in the ocean with a sand bar and little boulder and of Cours beautiful tropical teal waters.  I simply used a corner rounder and layered her on top of papers from Graphic 45.  I love that she is just so simple, yet stunningly beautiful.  And all of that hair makes me swoon.

Ok I'll catch ya on the next wave.... I'm off to the coffee pot for a fill up.  Toodles!

Hey Mermaid

Hey hey hey... this mermaid is sure to make you smile.... the third in the new MerMay release from Some Odd Girl.  Check her out!

When I saw her I just knew that she would be laying out on a rock, sunning herself, and becoming any passing sailor.  Those poor fools have no idea what's coming.  I love her swath of brunette hair and this bubblegum pink tail.  I used my favorite Die from Honey Bee Stamps to cut out the scene, and then placed it atop a piece of incredible First Edition paper.  I added a huge pink organza bow and a few Nuvo drops for good measure.

I hope that you are loving this amazing MerMay as much as I am.  I'll be back tomorrow with yet another mermaid to share with you.

Mmmmm.... I think I need another cup of coffee.... yup, pretty sure I do, Toodles!

Mermaid Tunes

Oh Em Gee you guys!!!! I LOVE this next mermaid soooo much!  Check this out!!!

Ok, so I love that she is totally rocking out to her favorite music and I felt like she would be topside for this.  Just breaking the surface of the water and catching some rays.  I used a piece of paper from my stash that is rustic weathered wood with some peeling teal paint, and cute the card front out using a die from Honey Bee Stamps.  Then I added a really neat fiber from Busy Box Blends By Pammy J, and a fun Nuvo drops to finish off the look.  I LOVE this card so much!

Okie dokie, I'm going to turn the music up and finish this cup of coffee!  Toodles!

MerMay with Some Odd Girl

Ok, so you didn't think I was finished with the Mermaids yet did you?  No way!!! I have a whole school of new mermaids to share with you starting today from Some Odd Girl!

Here's the first!

This sweet girl is called Mermaid Ponytail and she is totally FAB!!!! I paired her with the ne Graphic 45 Under the Sea papers and it was a match made in... well.. Atlantis! lol! I cute the fish out from one of the sheets of paper because her hand was drawn to look like she's petting something I thought. So... a big ol fish is going to foot that bill.

I loved the huge open fin at the end of her tail an the fun way her hair floats all around her body.  This was a super cool image to color. I placed her in a sea cavern in the deep, deep sea and made her just a little dark and twisty!  I hope you love her too!

I'm off for a cup of coffee.  Talk to you all tomorrow, Toodles!

Little Mermaids

Hey friends, I'm back with more mermaids!!! And these little cuties will have you smiling from gill to gill.

First up:
These adorable little Mermaids and their little starfish friends are just too cute!  I had to keep them all together so here's the card I made.
I sorta made the focal point the adorable little octopus.  the expression on his face was just too cute to not make him the forefront of the card.  These little images were just too fun to color.

The nest set for today is this one.
I decided to go simple with this background as I wanted the little mermaids to be the focal point.  But I loved hiding their little crabby friends in the sand though.

What a fun release this has been, there's more to color tomorrow, so pop back in for another awesome image from Stamper's Delights.  I'm off to make more coffee, because.... well, that's what I do! Toodles!

Time for mermaids!!!!!

Welcome to MerMay my friends,  I promise you an overdose of mermaids and their friends for the entire month.  I have THREE new images to share with you today! Yup, three!

I'm going to start this off with a cool new digital Image from Stamper's Delights.

I love that Janice drew a MerBoy! You don't see a lot of male mermaids out there, so I was quite delighted to see this one.  I figured he needed to be in traditional boy colors and he would totally be getting into mischief as well. Check it out:

Next up is the sweet little mermaid and her fun little friend.  I loved the geodes in the foreground, Janice always adds so many cool details in her images.
When I saw her my mind immediately went to rebellious teenager trying to find a hiding place to get away from her parents and siblings.  So I placed her in this little sea cavern.  I mean, can you blame her?  I'd totally go down to the sandy bottom and hang out with this adorable little squid away from everyone else who lives under the sea. Lol!

Next up, are these sweet little MerFriends.  They are totally finished with social distancing and are ready to make up for lost time.

I decided they were going to be getting into a little mischief of their own hanging out in all the ruins of a sunken city.  I mean, that's what kids do right?

I hope you enjoyed these images! They were so much fun to color and I loved creating stories and scenes for them!  Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you back here tomorrow for more under the sea fun!  I'm off to get some coffee as my cup is empty.  Toodles!

You make my heart dance

I'm back with day two of the amazing release from The Rabbit Hole Designs!  This stamp is so stinking cute that I cannot even explain it... so here's the card.

I stamped these cute kids on Sweet Sentiment paper with Momento Desert Sand ink and colored them up with my Copic Markers.  Then..... well, then I got to work.....making a little forest scene for them to be dancing in! hahahaha! I think I told a little bit of a story with them.  I hope you love them dancing away to the sounds of the forest here.  Of course I added a bunch of flowers!  That's sort of my M.O.

OH WAIT!!!! There's PRIZES!!!!

Meet me back here tomorrow for some bun stenciled cards!  Toodles!!!

Awesome Viking

Wow! What a weekend it's been!

First, let me say that the entire Blog/Store and Social Media presence of Sweet Sentiment have been  redone over the weekend! I'm so excited for you to see how beautiful it all looks and how smoothly it all functions now! Hooray for that! So, feel free to have a look around and check out all that is new and exciting with Sweet Sentiment.

Now, aside from a social media overhaul, I made a card!  Dealing with technology can be stressful, so I chose an image from an artist I'd never worked with before for my coloring therapy.  I purposefully chose something quite intricate so that I could really get away from the technology thing and turn my brain off of all that.  Here's the result:
This is a digital image from the Paper Shelter and I printed her off on Catherine Pooler 100 lb white marker paper.  I made the mistake of thinking that my eyesight is way better than it really is and I printed her at 15% opacity.  I highly recommend you do NOT do that, but print her at maybe 20% instead.  Lol!  I colored her up with my Copic markers and I regret to say that I didn't keep a list going as I should have because I was just coloring for therapy sake.  So, I completely checked out of reality and just grabbed markers and colored.  I hope you'll forgive me.

I then cut a 5.5" x 5.5" white card stock base for my card, and cut a piece of DSP with timbers on it for the background.  I cut that piece 1/8" smaller than the base.  After coloring a background on my image, I decided to trim it down a bit to better fit on the base.  After trimming it I also decided to round the corners, so, I used my envelope board to punch the corners round. (Remember how I said I was checking out? Yup, I used my envelope board to punch the corners.... ha ha ha!) I trimmed a piece of Craft colored card stock from the Paper Studio to be 1/8" larger than my image and distressed all of the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide ink and a sponge dauber.  It was then I decided that I needed a sentiment.... minor details.  So I pulled out the embossing supplies and found this cute sentiment in my stash of CC Designs stamps.  It's from the Rockabilly Sentiments set.

I went to my ribbon stash and found a length of this beautiful chocolate brown satin ribbon and tied a simple bow.  I didn't want to take away from the scene that I made, so I left it at that for embellishments. (I know, don't fall off your chair, it's quite rare that I ever leave it at that for embellishments!)

I'm quite pleased with how this whole project came out.  It really got my mind off of all the technology so I could approach it once more with a calm demeanor. Lol! I had so much fun making a background for her and her sweet little dragon and sort of giving them a story to be a part of.  This image was so fun to color, I'm sure you'll be seeing more of her in the months to come!

Thanks for stopping by today, please leave a comment, as I read all of them, they make me smile.  I'm off to get another cup of coffee because you all know that's how I exist! Lol!  Hope you all have a wonderful Monday and a fantastic week!  Tootles!
