June Color Challenge

 Summer is finally here!

What’s a better way to kick of summer than a day at the beach?!?!? This months color palette was inspired by this incredible beach picture (that our very own Sandy photographed)! Now surf on over to the Sweet Sentiment Stamps & Friends Facebook Group and join our June Coloring Challenge.

Busy Box Blends has put together the perfect Fiber Blend to coordinate with this months color challenge!

If anyone has an amazing iced coffee recipe make sure to share it because we all know I am not going to give up my coffee even on the hottest of day! Toodles!

A day at the beach

Hey Oddies and Sweeties!  I'm here today with another card featuring an incredible digital image from Some Odd Girl!   Ok, so I'm actually not a HUGE mermaid fan.  I LIKE them, but it's not a big  "OMG it's a mermaid I MUST have it or I will surely die," type scenario.  With that being said, Kristy has some of the absolute cutest mermaids out there.  The one I'm sharing with you today is one of my favorites! Here she is:

She's rightfully named "Mermaid Queen" given that she is wearing a crown and a lot of other jewelry. Lol! I just picked up a piece of Sweet Sentiment Coloring paper and went to town with my Copic markers!  I love orange and rarely see it used in cards, so I decided to use it as a focal point for her tail.  Man, I'm sure glad I did, because I totally love how it came out. I used a combination of Nuvo Drops and Stickles and a paint brush to make the ocean foam, added a bunch of flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and Magnolia, I stuck on some enamel dots from Doodlebug design.  Boom! Done! The papers are from First Edition and Graphic 45.

Well, as much as I wish I was at the beach hanging out with mermaid royalty, I'm still in Idaho, and it's January and cold.... so I'm going to go make a cup of coffee!  See you all soon my friends, Toodles!

Moonlight Whispers Beachy Release

Today is going to be a great day.  Why? Well let me tell you why....
There's a new release from Moonlight Whispers!!!!!!

Yeah, I'm just slightly excited. Annie Rodrigue is a good friend and, like, my favorite artist EVER!!!!! I just adore her and her artwork!  So, let me stop fangirling and show you the new images.

First up is an image you may have seen before, as it's appeared on her facebook page in the past. But, she's decided to make it into a digital stamp for all of us! Here it is:
I love creating dimension on cards, so I may have gotten a little carried away with the foam squares.

Ok, so the process: First I got out a piece of Sweet Sentiment coloring paper and printed this awesome digi up.  I printed her at an opacity at 20% because I love creating that "no lines" look to my coloring.  Once I completed the coloring, I fussy cut her..... forever..... and ever..... ok, so it wasn't THAT bad.  But it did take a little bit to get into all the little tight spaces that the chair creates. I added some Glossy accents to her sunglasses and to her beverage glass, and I used some Nuvo drops on her necklace and sat her aside to dry.  I then used a piece of watercolor paper to create a Distress Oxide ink background.  The Inks used are Festive Berries, Worn Lipstick, and Scattered Straw. I got out some of my Doodlebug die cuts to see what worked with the image, and I tied a bow with this amazing organza ribbon that was sent to me from a friend in England.

Copic Markers used:
Skin: E15, E13, E11, E21, E00, E000

Drink: BG18, BG49, BG45, Bg10, R85, R83, R81

Next up is a super fun little image of a kid.... well, being a kid!
I decided to color a background on this one because I felt like it really needed more of a story.  I added the cloudy sky and the turquoise water and some mountains far off in the distance.  I was imagining this family to be on a bit of a holiday enjoying the beach. This little rascal is dumping a pail of sand on her Dad's (or big brother's) head! I used some papers from the Beach Days 6x6 paper pad from Echo Park and some red card stock from The Paper Studio.

And, last, but certainly not least... I think this is my favorite image of this release!  I have to say it just makes me smile! Hopefully it makes you smile too!
That little pup just being playful, and that look on her face! Ha ha ha! Just so adorable! Again I colored her up on Sweet Sentiment Coloring Paper, and again she was printed at 20% opacity.  I added a scene to the image because I wanted to tell a little story with this.  The girl was walking by, all calm on the empty beach, enjoying her day, when out from behind this palm tree her little pup pops out and wants to play!  After coloring, I raided my ribbon stash and found this crazy bright pink ribbon and tied it around the image.  I also used some DSP from Doodlebug Designs (because I'm an addict) and added some of their sprinkles as well.  Then I went for the flowers!  I raided my flower stash and found this huge teal flower from Magnolia, and a handful of tiny roses from Wild Orchid Crafts. I don't know if you can see it, but at the top of the flowers is a cute "Bubble" button from Dress it Up!

Copics used:
Skin: E15, E13, E11, E00, E000

You can enter as many times per month as you'd like!!
Saturdays bring us "Themed challenges" and I love me some themed challenges! They are so open, but give me just that tiny amount of guidance so I know what direction to go in. The theme this Saturday is.... you've guessed it.... FLOWERS!!! So, glue them, color them, draw them, whatever you think will work for you, but show us some FLOWERS!!!! Here's my card for you to see:
I used Miss Floatin' Fiona, who is not particularly a "floral" type stamp. But I wanted to show you all that you can use ANYTHING for the flowers challenge.  I colored her up on a FB LIVE video for you all (well I colored her hair and eyes and skin on the live video), then cut her out with an oval die from Gina Marie.  I added some Doodlebug paper (from the we are mermaids 6x6 paper pad) and 7 bazillion flowers and leaves from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I finished it off with a few enamel dots from Echo Park and a couple of seashell shaped buttons (you can't really see them as they are sorta under the flower petals, but trust me, they are there).  I really hope you like it! So BRIGHT and fun!
Ok, back to business....
Have you joined the Kraftin Kimmie's Krafty Friends fb group?? It's the best place to keep up with all of the goings on as well as sharing YOUR creations and getting inspired by other Krafty Friends' creations!!! Frugal Friday Specials are UP!!! Fireflies at the beach!

Well hello there Fireflies! I'm so excited about the August challenge.... it's "A day at the beach!"  (You can find more info about the challenge here.)  Being as I moved from California to Idaho about a decade ago, it's been a while since I've seen the beach.  (Insert sad face here.)  But with the challenge for Firefly Crafts, I can remember what it was like to be there! (smile) So, here's my project:
Items Used:

I ADORE the wooden embellishments from Firefly, they are so awesome and add just a touch of whimsey.  I used a ceramic plate and my Distress Ink minis and literally just rubbed them on the plate, then i spritzed it with water and laid the yardstick on it, squished it around a little and then pulled it up and set it to dry.  Once dry (well mostly dry, because I'm totally impatient like that) I stamped some words using a stamp from Kitchen Sink (also found in the Firefly Craft store, but out of stock at the moment) .
I rarely do the mixed media type of cards, so this is WAY outside of my comfort zone.  I'll have to keep practicing! ha ha ha
Happy crafting Fireflies!!!
